COVID-19: Information Letter from BLSD
March 31, 2020

Dear Border Land Community,

On Tuesday March 31, 2020 Minister of Education, Mr. Kelvin Goertzen announced the indefinite suspension of classes in Manitoba.  Although their hope, and ours, is that our students will be back in school before the end of June, they made this decision based on direction from Manitoba Public Health.

Manitoba Education is working on a framework to guide the learning that will happen across schools in Manitoba throughout this suspension period.  As this information is shared with us, we will develop communication to share with you and your children.

In the meantime, please take time to enjoy this break with your family. Talk to your children about how they are feeling during this time.  We recognize that stress and anxiety are running very high right now and we acknowledge that in some cases addressing that, along with your family needs, is more important than schoolwork.  Together we will work through this time and our goal is to support the BLSD community.

Please continue to stay home when possible and social distance if you do need to be out as that strategy continues to be the recommended method to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

We will keep you apprised of new information as it becomes available via our webpage.  Please also continue to consult Manitoba Health to receive accurate information at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/

Please stay well!

Sincerely,

Krista Curry
